Henry, HIT Program Director, to serve as President-Elect for SILHIMA

September 8, 2016

INA, Ill. (Sept. 8, 2016) - Charlotte Henry, Rend Lake College’s Health Information Technology (HIT) Program Director, was recently seated as the President-Elect for the Southern Illinois Health Information Management Association (SILHIMA). Her two-year term began in July.

Henry, a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), was initially elected by members of SILHIMA in the spring and was installed in her position at SILHIMA’s annual summer meeting. As the President-Elect, she will help regional health information professionals obtain continuing education hours through educational meetings and activities. These hours will give members the chance to maintain national health information credentials, such as Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, and Registered Health Information Administrator.

Specifically, Henry said she’s working with the current President of SILHIMA to plan the organization’s next meeting, scheduled to take place at RLC Friday, Sept. 16.

“I am honored to be able to serve health information professionals in Southern Illinois on the SILHIMA board,” said Henry. “In the upcoming year, I will assist the President of SILHIMA with various duties and will represent her if she is absent from meetings. We will work with both the state and national health information associations on various initiatives to develop and promote the health information management professional practices.”

Henry has also served SILHIMA in the past in the Secretary position, and she is a member of the national American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She recently completed HIM instructor training with AHIMA and attended the AHIMA Assembly on Education-Faculty Development Institute convention. She also serves in a volunteer capacity for AHIMA’s Faculties Development Workgroup.

Henry is an RLC graduate with an Associate of Arts degree. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
