(March 20, 2015) - Students in Rend Lake College's Horticulture program replanted a Queensland umbrella tree Wednesday afternoon in honor of the plant's previous owner, the late Jim King, a part-time faculty member in RLC's Mining Technology Program. INA, Ill. (March 20, 2015) - Horticulture students Lisa Withrow (Bluford) and Derek Wolf (Ina) work together to water the tree after repotting it in one of the greenhouses on campus. Until 2013, the tree was faithfully cared for by Jim King in the window of his office. It then outgrew the window and was moved to the Coal Mining Training Center. Since then, it has reached the ceiling and will be moved to the Learning Resource Center where it can continue to thrive. In 2013, King was posthumously awarded the Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Award and his memory lives on in the Jim King Memorial Scholarship through the RLC Foundation.
