INA, Ill. (Sept. 4, 2024) – Rend Lake College is excited to announce the lineup of eight-week classes that start Oct. 14, offering students another chance to enroll in a variety of courses across traditional, online, and hybrid formats. This opportunity provides a flexible, learning opportunity for those who still wish to further their education this fall.
Traditional Course Offerings:
- AUTO 1202 - Engine Repair (5 Credits): Focuses on diagnosing and repairing engine components such as cylinder heads, valve trains, short blocks, and lubrication systems. Students will also cover engine completion and start-up procedures.
- AUTO 2230 - Auto Electrical Systems B (3 Credits): Offers an in-depth study of charging system diagnosis and repair, lighting systems, and electrical accessories. Prerequisite: AUTO 1232.
- AUTO 2235 - Engine Performance B (5 Credits): Concentrates on fuel and exhaust systems, including carburetion and fuel injection. Offered in Fall only.
- MFG 1207 - Safety (3 Credits): An introduction to industrial safety and health hazards with an opportunity to earn the MSSC Safety Certification.
- MFG 1210 - Quality Practices & Measurement (3 Credits): Teaches quality control and improvement practices in manufacturing, with a chance to earn the MSSC Quality and Measurement certification.
Online Course Options:
- ANTH 1101 - Cultural Anthropology (3 Credits): Surveys global cultures and human adaptations to diverse environments.
- BUSI 1202 - Employability Skills (1 Credit): Enhances understanding of essential work ethics.
- BUSI 2107 - Business Communications (3 Credits): Improves business communication skills, including writing and oral presentations. Prerequisite: ENGL 1101.
- CSCI 1101 - Introduction to Computers (3 Credits): Introduces computer systems, including hardware, software, and Internet applications.
- ENGL 1101 - Rhetoric & Composition 1 (3 Credits): Develops college-level reading and writing skills. Prerequisites apply.
- HEA 1101 - Health Education (2 Credits): Covers principles of personal and community health.
- HEA 1120 - Stress Management (3 Credits): Provides strategies for managing stress through a holistic approach.
- HECO 1202 - Health Care Terminology (3 Credits): Introduces medical terminology relevant to healthcare occupations.
- MUSI 1100 - Music Appreciation (3 Credits): Designed for non-music majors to appreciate music fundamentals and styles.
- ORIE 1101 - Orientation (1.5 Credits): Enhances academic and career survival skills.
Hybrid Course Offering:
- BUSI 2105 - Legal & Social Environment of Business (3 Credits): Examines the legal environment in business with a focus on ethics and social responsibility. Prerequisites apply.
