Local high school students compete in recent ACES regional at RLC

INA, IL (March 14, 2022) - Rend Lake College was recently the host for some of the best and brightest students in the area as part of the annual Academic Challenge in Engineering and Sciences regional competition.

The ACES, which was formerly known as WYSE, was split in two parts on Feb. 9 as schools were able to choose to participate either in-person or online. The event included challenges in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering Graphics, English, Mathematics and Physics.

Participating high schools included Benton, Christopher, Mt. Vernon, Pinckneyville, Sesser-Valier, Webber Township and Zeigler-Royalton.

Qualifying students advanced from the regional competition moved on to the sectional competition. Both the sectional and state contest will be held online this year.
