Locals invited to rev their engines at Warrior Fest Car Show

INA, Ill. (Aug. 16, 2017) - Show cars, street rods, motorcycles, and everything in between are invited to hit the road to the Fifth Annual Warrior Fest Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Rend Lake College.

Registration for the Car Show begins at 9 a.m. with judges making the rounds starting at 10:30 a.m. Participants can register until noon and a trophy presentation will finish the day at 2 p.m.

One new award this year will feature the Best Modified vehicle among many other bests, such as Best of Show, Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Best Rat Rod, Best Orphan, Best Truck, Best Sport Car, Best Street Rod, Best Paint, Top Five from 1995 and newer, Top 15 from 1975 to 1994, and Top 25 from 1974 and older.

Motorcycle-enthusiasts are also invited to enter their bikes for the Best Motorcycle and Top 10 Motorcycles awards. There will also be a Top Five Club Participation Award with a $100 cash prize for the largest participation.

Dash plaques for the first 100 registrants will be awarded. Entrants can also enter drawings for a 50/50 and door prizes. Live music will be provided by Hot Rod Nights. Photos of each entry and owner will be taken by RLC between 10 a.m. and noon. All photos will be posted online for free viewing, downloading, and sharing at RLC’s Flickr site: www.flickr.com/rendlakecollege.

The $10 registration fee to enter the Car Show will go toward student scholarships in the Automotive Technology program. For more information about the car show, contact Nigel Thompson at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1806 or thompson@rlc.edu.

Visitors to the show are encouraged to make pit stops at other Warrior Fest attractions which will include Preview Day, Demo Day, children’s activities, a vendor and craft fair, and various events hosted by RLC clubs and organizations. Students in RLC’s Culinary Arts program will serve food and beverages throughout the day.
