INA, Ill. (March 4, 2026) — Rend Lake College was proud to welcome Marie Samuel (Carterville) as a featured creator as part of the RLC Visiting Artist Series. Her textile and quilt-based collection, "Wild Horses," was showcased from October to November.

Samuel is a graduate of the University of Arizona and a retired Art Educator from the Carterville School District. Her background in education remains an important part of her identity as she continues to actively share her skills by teaching workshops on a wide range of art subjects. Her personal practice spans painting, collage, textiles, and mixed media, with quilts and fiber work as a signature element of her style.
The “Wild Horses” exhibit was displayed at RLC and will next travel to the Crainville City Hall. Samuel’s work has been shown both nationally and internationally, reflecting the broad appeal and expressive depth of her artistic style.

Samuel is an engaged member of the local arts community as part of the Little Egypt Arts Association, contributing to regional arts programming and exhibitions. Beyond her visual art, Samuel is also a published author. Her artwork and poetry appear in For the Love of Nature, and she has additionally released a book of art and poetry titled Poet for Peace: Sunflowers Rising.
The RLC community is honored to showcase Samuel's expressive, textural, and poetic approach to art.
