REND LAKE COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES - Nov. 17, 2020 MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

November 17, 2020

INA, Ill. (Nov. 17, 2020)
The Rend Lake College Board of Trustees gave every student in the district a scholarship at Tuesday night's meeting.

Board members unanimously approved an exciting new program called Raise A Warrior. Lead developer Kristen Garner
a community outreach specialist with RLC
presented the pilot to the board last month. The "micro-scholarship" program will allow students in RLC District #521 to earn up to $2,000 in scholarships by the time they graduate high school. Once the program is launched, students in grades 3-12 can start building credit in their account by reaching specified milestones, participating in extra-curricular activities, and other objectives as deemed appropriate.

Rend Lake trustees also approved the 2021-22 academic calendar, entered into multiple agreements with other institutions, made some personnel moves and more during the virtual meeting.

Nursing Program Articulation Agreement with McKendree University

McKendree University and Rend Lake College have developed a plan to facilitate seamless transfer for students who complete the Associate Degree in Nursing program at RLC and desire to earn the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at McKendree University. Students who satisfactorily complete the AAS in Nursing requirements with Rend Lake, and hold an unencumbered license as a registered nurse, will be admitted to McKendree.
