INA, Ill. (Oct. 13, 2023)—At Rend Lake College, we celebrate diversity. We want all of our students to feel safe and welcome, no matter their age, race, gender, or class. That is why in the month of October, RLC is hosting a Diversity Week on campus.
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Cultural Events (DEIC) Committee at RLC is committed to providing a positive atmosphere for students to learn and grow in. RLC Student Success and Wellness Coordinator Sarah Draper is in charge of spear-heading these events and bringing guest speakers on campus to share their insight with the RLC community.
“DEI has recently become a buzzword across college campuses and workplaces, but DEI isn’t just about checking a box or keeping up with the times. It is about creating opportunities that allow students to learn more about themselves and the world around them. It is about preparing our students to succeed in life and in their future careers,” said Draper. “ The DEIC committee wants students to know that they are valued. We want them to feel represented and included.”
