INA, Ill. (May 7, 2013) - Rend Lake College took time to honor its own Thursday night, May 2, at the 2013 RLC Board, Faculty, Staff Recognition.
President Terry Wilkerson welcomed those in attendance at the Rend Lake Resort and Conference Center Great Room. He started by presenting awards for years of service to the college.
Receiving five-year awards: Brian Clark, Joe Ervin, Christina Hutcheson, Ron Murray, Kristina Shelton, Damon Sims, Leah Stallman, Rachel Sveda and Pete Wilce.
Receiving 10-year awards: Chad Copple, Kathy Craig, Leslie Harmon-McKenzie, Gary McGill, Kay Shaw, Rodney Summers and Arvella Waugh.
Receiving 15-year awards: Nicki Bowlin, Kathy Byars, Kelly Eubanks, Brenda Heinzmann, Trinda Heitmeyer, Frank Hughey, Glenna Maxwell, Ricky Robinson, Sue Scattone and Tracey Webb.

Wilkerson announced the 2012-13 retirees next. Those retiring include Bob Carlock (25 years), Clay Holman (12 years), Sharon Richardson (24 years), Dave Warner (25 years) and Sam Whisenhunt (8 years).

Kuberski then announced the winner of the 2013 Outstanding Faculty Award, Early Childhood Education Professor Tina Grounds.

The Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Award went to the late Jim King, who taught in RLC's Mining Technology Program before passing away on April 27, less than a week before the ceremony. Visitation was held May 2 at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton with masonic rites and a memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, King's family requested memorial contributions be made to the Jim King Memorial Scholarship through the Rend Lake College Foundation.

The final award presented was the 2013 Outstanding Staff Award. Vice President of Career-Technical Instruction Lisa Payne announced Allied Health Division Adminstrative Assistant Beth Stevens as the winner. Stevens started out as a student worker at the college. In 1995, she was hired to a full-time position and later moved to the Allied Health Division.
