INA, Ill. (Sept. 4, 2015) - After a successful turnout of nearly 115 participants last year, Rend Lake College’s ever-growing Car Show event at Warrior Fest is planning to be bigger and better than ever with more trophies and awards. The Car Show will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, and end with a 3 p.m. trophy presentation.
Five new awards for motorcycle entrants are expected to draw a new crowd to Warrior Fest. Nigel Thompson, RLC Automotive Technology Professor, said the awards include Top Eight Motorcycles, Best American Motorcycle, Best Asian Motorcycle, Best European Motorcycle, and Best Custom Motorcycle.
“We have several new, beautiful trophies to offer participants this year. Last year, we had many more motorcycles than we anticipated, and they were all judged in one class for one trophy. Because of the good turnout, we’ve decided to expand those categories,†said Thompson. “It’s going to be a great event to be involved in or to walk around and see.â€
Awards for vehicle entrants include Best of Show, Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Best Street Rod, Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Motor, Best Rat Rod, Best Orphan, Best Truck, Best Sports Car, Top Five from 1995 and newer, Top 15 from 1975 to 1994, and Top 25 from 1974 and older.
Car Show judging will start at 11:30 a.m. Hot Rod Nights will emcee the event and help with door prizes for show participants, which will be drawn throughout the event. T-shirts for the Car Show will also be available for $10.
Photos of the entry and owners will be taken by RLC between 10 a.m. and noon. All photos will be posted online for free viewing, downloading, and sharing at RLC’s Flickr site: www.flickr.com/rendlakecollege.
