INA, Ill. (Feb. 16, 2017) - Rend Lake College announced the 2017 Homecoming King and Queen last night during halftime of the Warriors basketball game tonight against Southeastern Illinois College. Wade Hutchens of Ewing and Grace Pytlinski of Waltonville, both representing the Collegiate FFA, were crowned King and Queen.

Hutchens is the son of Rob and Kathy Hutchens. The Benton Consolidated High School graduate is an Agriculture Business major at RLC. After graduating, Hutchens plans to attend Illinois State University and continue on to graduate school, pursuing a degree in Animal Science Nutrition.
Pytlinski is the daughter of Bruce and Annette Pytlinski. The Waltonville High School graduate is an Agriculture Business and Production Management major. She plants to transfer to Murray State University to continue her education in Plant and Soil Sciences. She hopes to one day become an agronomist, working for a large company like Monsanto or Syngenta.
Runners-up for the evening were Nick Marlo of Sesser and Cali Carney of Benton, both representing the Men's and Women's Basketball teams.
Marlo is a Sesser-Valier High School graduate and son of David and Cathy Marlo. He is studying Business Finance and RLC with plans to transfer to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and continue his education there. In the future, he also plans to get an internship and job after completing a Master’s Degree.
Carneyis the daughter of Chad and Liz Carney, and is a graduate of Benton Consolidated High School. She is a Nursing major at RLC. In the future, Carney hopes to become a registered nurse and coach.

Other King candidates included Lane Bradley of Steeleville, Conner Jackson of Bluford, Tanner Maskey of Springfield, and Damien Wilburn of Thompsonville.
Bradley is the son of Tyler and Kristie Bradley. The Steeleville High School graduate is a Culinary Arts major at RLC and represented the Culinary Arts Club. After finishing his degree at RLC, Bradley plans to complete a dietitian degree and open his own restaurant.
Jackson, son of Matthew and Cathy Jackson, is a graduate of Webber Township High School. He represented the RLC STARS program on the Homecoming court. The Information Technology Systems Specialist major plans to graduate from RLC and transfer to a four-year university.
Representing the Men’s Baseball team was Maskey, son of Dave and Taffy Maskey. The undecided major at RLC is planning to transfer to a university after graduation to further both his academic and athletic career. He is a graduate of Springfield High School.
Wilburn represented the RLC Thespian Troupe on the Homecoming court. The son of David Wilburn and Crystal Kniskley is a theatre major who plans to attend Webster University to continue his theatre studies. He is a graduate of Thompsonville High School.
Other Queen candidates included Taylor Aldridge of Eldorado; Beth Moats of Wayne City; Hannah Poynter of Louisville, Ky.; and Skylyn Simpson of Sesser.
Aldridge represented two clubs on the Homecoming court: the Women’s Golf team and the Thespian Troupe. Aldridge is the daughter of David Aldridge and Marcy Deam, and is a graduate of Eldorado High School. She is a Psychology major at RLC who plans to continue her education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She hopes to continue her involvement in theatre while working toward her Doctorate degree.
Moats is the daughter of Tex Moats and Sharon Wilson. She attended Fairfield Community High School before coming to RLC, where she represented the Culinary Arts Club on campus. Moats plans to major in Culinary Arts Management and work in a high-end restaurant after graduation.
Representing the RLC Softball team was Poynter, the daughter of Tom and Shannon Poynter. She is a graduate of Louisville Male Traditional High School who is studying pre-dentistry at RLC. In the future, she plans to continue her education and become a dentist.
Simpson is the daughter of Kim Simpson and Jeff Fornear. She is an Elementary Education major and represented RLC’s STARS program. The Sesser-Valier High School graduate plans to transfer to Southern Illinois University Carbondale to finish her education and become a teacher.
