INA, Ill. (April 27, 2020)
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has moved higher learning to an online environment this semester, but that has not stopped students from trying to achieve academic success. Now more than ever, these students can use your help.
The Rend Lake College Foundation will conduct RLC Giving Week May 3-8 to help support the RLC Student Emergency Fund and create additional scholarships for students. The #TogetherAsWarriors campaign creates new scholarships to assist returning students who might not be able to continue because they've been impacted by COVID-19, unemployment or other strenuous circumstances. The scholarships also support those who missed the scholarship application timeframe because they had not planned to attend RLC or now need help because they’ve been adversely impacted by this crisis.
“Our student success has always been the measure of our success at Rend Lake College,†RLC President Terry Wilkerson said in a video message announcing RLC Giving Week. “We also are aware our students and their families are facing difficult challenges, some of which may be barriers to their educational goals and aspirations. Now more than ever, the support of our alumni and the support of our friends can weigh in and help change the lives of our students and help them overcome these barriers and challenges.â€
RLC Giving Week also coincides with Giving Tuesday on May 5. Giving Tuesday, typically occurring in November, is a global generosity movement being held in May this year as an emergency response to the needs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Want to support future leaders of your community? Gifts can be made online at www.rlc.edu/give-now. And follow along with the campaign on the RLCF’s Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages.
“I hope you’ll consider joining me in RLC’s Giving Week as we try to push forward and support our students in this tough time. I am certain together as Warriors, we can make a difference,†Wilkerson said.
