RLC Foundation searching for next Alumnus of the Year

August 14, 2013

INA, Ill. (Aug. 14, 2013) - The Rend Lake College Foundation is looking for the next biggest and best RLC graduate to name the 2013 Alumnus of the Year during the RLCF’s Annual Dinner.

RLCF CEO Shawna Manion said that the Foundation looks for RLC graduates who have excelled to choose a winner for the award.

“Each year, the RLC Foundation announces one graduate of RLC that represents the quality of student that community college education can produce,” said Manion. “These alumni oftentimes got their start at RLC, but sometimes, RLC helps to give them a chance to start over, to go down a new career path.”

Forms are available online for community members to nominate graduates for the special award. The form can be found online at www.rlc.edu/nominatealum.

Award winners are honored at the RLCF Annual Dinner held in December. More details about the dinner and the award winner will be released at a later date. All submissions are kept on file for future selections.

The 2013 Alumnus of the Year will join the ranks of some of the brightest RLC grads, including NASA Engineer Peter Johnson (2012 winner); Ron Smith, former SIUC Associate Head Coach of Men’s Basketball (2011 winner); Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Mike McHaney (2010 winner); Magazine Publisher Jim Muir (2009 winner); Randy Rubenacker, co-owner and manager of Rubenacker Farms Partnership in Dahlgren and 4R Equipment in McLeansboro (2008 winner); Brad Gesell, owner of Gesell’s Pump Sales and Service Inc. in Whittington (2007 winner) and Chris Johnson, former Manager of the Walgreens Distribution Center in Mt. Vernon (2006 winner).
