INA, Ill. (September 25, 2026) — Rend Lake College was proud to host local 5th and 6th graders from 24 area schools on September 22-25 for the 2026 Amazing Career Race, a fun and informative event used to introduce students to different career paths.
RLC President Dr. Lori Ragland welcomes the 5th and 6th grade students to the 2026 Amazing Career Race.
Participating schools
Tuesday, September 22: Field, St. Mary Mt. Vernon, Spring Garden, Opdyke-Belle Rive, Summersville (6th Grade), Pinckneyville #204, Christopher and Thompsonville (6th Grade)
Wednesday, September 23: Dahlgren, East Side, Wayne City and Pinckneyville District 50
Thursday, September 24: Zeigler-Royalton, Ewing, Waltonville, Thompsonville (5th Grade), Bethel and Woodlawn
Friday, September 25: McClellan, Bluford, Sesser-Valier, Farrington, Summersville (5th Grade) and Akin
Each student explored 16 Career Clusters that ranged from Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources to Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. They had a variety of activities from learning about the different pathways and occupations to participating in hands-on activities from qualified RLC faculty & staff. The Amazing Career Race gave each child an experience that modeled the skills needed in those different careers.
