INA, Ill. (August 29, 2022) — RLC Ag students gained additional knowledge and skills from a local industry partner visiting their Assembly and Adjustment class. Students listened to industry updates, trends, and expectations, followed by an equipment demonstration by Kaleb Miller (RLC Ag Alumni) with F.B. McAfoos.
Kaleb Miller (Sale Rep from F.B. McAfoos), Colin Jones (Rend Lake College Agriculture Instructor), and Jeremy Schnierle (Mechanic at F.B. McAfoos) with the Kubota M7060 Tractor and RC108CR Rake at Rend Lake College.
The demonstration included a Kubota hay mower and conditioner, along with a Kubota M7060 tractor. The students had the opportunity for seat time in the equipment and wrapped up the day by baling the hay they worked to cut earlier in the day. Ag instructor, Colin Jones, arranged the classroom visit to bring additional industry exposure to his students. “I believe the exposure to this equipment will benefit the students and provide the basic understanding of how the equipment works as well as being able to see the machine in action. This is another opportunity for industry to come in and talk with the students about the company and how it works as a whole”, said Jones.

Industry partnerships are beneficial to the students, the college, and the local workforce. Jones said, “Currently, we have three RLC Ag Alumni and two students working at F.B. McAfoos.”
