Rend Lake College’s radiography program remains in excellent standing following a review by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.

RLC’s Rad Tech program was granted a maximum eight years of accreditation in 2016. RLC will continue that status following an interim report by JRCERT. Accreditation through JRCERT “offers institutions significant value by providing peer evaluation and by assuring the public of quality professional education in the radiologic sciences.”

“This notification from JRCERT is a great indication that we are maintaining the highest quality program possible. It was a huge accomplishment to get awarded the maximum accreditation award of eight years in 2016,” said Radiologic Technology Program Director Holly Heisner. “Halfway through this process we were required to submit a follow-up self-study report to ensure that everything with the program remains on track. After review from the Accreditation staff, their findings confirmed this.”

JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance and medical dosimetry.

And Radiologic Technology is a popular program at RLC, supporting an in-demand industry. A radiologic technologist is an important part of the medical team, providing radiographs for physicians and radiologists while also delivering compassionate care for patients. The profession is dynamic and offers career opportunities in a variety of fields. Radiologic jobs are projected to increase by 9% over the next decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the average earnings are currently about $30 per hour.
