INA, Ill. (May 31, 2023) — Recently, Rend Lake College's Skills Center hosted the Illinois High School Diploma Graduation, an important event where 14 graduates received their diplomas on the campus in Ina. The ceremony was surely an unforgettable experience for everyone who attended, from the graduates to their families and the instructors.

Director of Adult Education and Family Literacy Dr. Linda Stasko and Student Services Coordinator Vickie Golliher presented certificates to graduates Mikayla Bruggen, Daniel Groff, Lanaya Moyer and Cherokee Tapia. Those graduates unable to attend include Johnathon Adams, Michael Comelli, Blake Greenwalt, Felicity Hammond, Braden Hempen, Damon Hilton, Miko Juarez, Austin Koenig, Lacy Storment and Payton Thomas.
In a captivating keynote address at the graduation ceremony, RLC Coordinator of Digital Media and Marketing Jonathon Walters employed a unique visual aid to emphasize his key message: a Rubik's cube. As he spoke, Walters methodically solved the cube, linking its complexity to life's challenges. He encouraged the graduates to persist in the face of adversity.
"Life's puzzles can be complex, but with patience, perseverance, and a never-quit attitude, you can conquer anything," Walters said. The climax of his address featured an unexpected reveal: Walters inserted the Rubik's cube into a larger picture, forming a Superman symbol made of more than 60 other carefully crafted cubes. This symbol served as a visual metaphor for the graduates' potential to overcome obstacles and achieve greatness.
After the ceremony, graduates and their guests enjoyed refreshments and socialized with instructors and staff members.
This fantastic event recognized the growth and achievements of these 14 graduates. From the keynote address by Walters to the awarding of diplomas, the ceremony was an unforgettable experience for everyone who attended. RLC congratulates the graduates and wishes them the best in their future endeavors.
