INA, Ill. (September 2, 2022) — The Rend Lake College Foundation is hosting a tribute on Friday, September 16, for the late RLC librarian, Beth Mandrell. The foundation, along with the college, has built a beautiful butterfly garden outside of the building in which she touched so many lives.
"Beth was such a blessing for this college," said Foundation Board Member Pat Kern. "Her heart was filled with her faith, family, gardening, and the love of being a librarian. Her home garden was the foundation for continuing her memory at RLC. There are elements from her home garden that have been included in the butterfly garden."
The event will feature several individuals to highlight the brightness of Beth's impact on the college and community.
"There was never a doubt the passion Beth had for the library," stated Rend Lake College's Executive Director of Administrative Services, Cathy DeJarnette. "Services from helping someone find a book, taking great pride in archiving valuable college history, and reading to the littles in the children’s center, that passion shined through. She was an asset to the college and made a difference through her work."
Family, friends, and the public are invited to attend the event and enjoy refreshments following. Foundation representatives will be in attendance if you would like to give a memorial contribution.
