RLC to Host National Weather Service Skywarn Spotter Training Class

March 6, 2023

INA, Ill. (March 6, 2023) - Rend Lake College is excited to announce that it will be hosting a Skywarn Spotter Training Class on Wednesday, March 15 at 6:00 pm in the RLC Event Center on the Ina Main Campus.

Have you ever been fascinated by the weather and wanted to learn more about it? Do you want to be able to report severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, funnel clouds, wall clouds, hail, lightning, downbursts, and flash flooding? If so, then you should become an official National Weather Service Skywarn Spotter.

NWS Instructor Keith Cooley will teach you how to identify these weather phenomena and report them accurately. The class will feature many weather pictures and videos, as well as information on how to become an informed spotter. The class lasts for two and a half hours, and all course material is free.

Registration is required to attend the class, and you can do so by visiting www.weather.gov/pah/spottertraining.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the weather and become an official National Weather Service Skywarn Spotter.

If you have questions about this class, please contact Charlotte Loss at 618-437-5321 Extension 1714.

Please note that this is a non-credit class.
