INA, Ill. (May 19, 2026) — Rend Lake College is looking greener thanks to an Earth Day project at the RLC Foundation Children’s Center.

RLC grounds technicians plant the new tree on the RLC campus.
To celebrate Arbor Day, the children and staff at the center gathered outside to watch and assist the RLC grounds crew as they planted a new tree outside the center. The students watched the physical plant team put the tree in place before jumping in to add the finishing touches.

RLCF Children's Center students watch as a team of RLC grounds technicians plant the new tree.
The outdoor activity served as the culmination of a tree study unit conducted by the preschool and pre-k classes. To bring the lesson home, each student also received their very own individual tree to plant with their families!
The project was coordinated through a collaboration between the RLCF Children's Center and the RLC Physical Plant, and serves as a living testament to RLC's dedication to enhancing both the campus environment and generations of RLC students.
