INA, Ill. (Nov. 1, 2019) - Stephen Morris is the Rend Lake College Veteran of the Month for November 2019.
Morris is a Buckner resident and served in the United States Marine Corps from 2013 to 2017. He is studying engineering at RLC.
"I chose to join the USMC for a number of reasons; including travel, to better set myself up for success, and to be able to use education benefits and other VA benefits after my service,†he said. "During Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) school, I decided that I wanted to study engineering because I learned a lot about frequencies."
Morris said the military prepared him for college with discipline, financial security, and maturity. He utilizes the Ch. 30 Montgomery GI Bill® and the Illinois Veteran’s Grant to assist with attending college.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending a lot of time with his dog and enjoying the outdoors with friends. He says his favorite country he has been to is South Korea.
