Students participate in cybersecurity competition, fly drone during RLC's CTE Camp

June 22, 2021

 CTE Camp 1

Rend Lake College's Career Technical Exploration Camp provided an opportunity Tuesday morning for junior high and high school students to learn more about computer science. Led by Computer Science Instructor Chris Edwards, campers participated in a cybersecurity competition where they had to create an online company and then defend it from cybersecurity attacks. Other topics included being able to identify malicious emails, writing code and securing accounts.

Later that morning, students discovered how to fly a DJI Mavic professional drone in the RLC Airfield and learned about FAA regulations.

Students in the camp included Mavric Zachman, Sawyer Overstreet, Riley Tompkins and Karlie Atchinson.
