Terry Wilkerson Welcomed as New Member of RLCF Board of Directors

October 28, 2025

INA, Ill. (October 28, 2025) — The Rend Lake College Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of Terry Wilkerson to its Board of Directors. As a former RLC president, Wilkerson brings more than 30 years of service (13 as president) and commitment to RLC’s community and to higher education.

Wilkerson attends his first meeting as a new member during the October 23, 2025, RLCF Board of Directors meeting.

“I appreciate the confidence the Foundation places in me by asking me to serve on their board,” said Wilkerson. “I look forward to supporting the college and its administration in its vision and mission.”

Wilkerson became RLC’s seventh full-time President in April 2012, but his connection to RLC goes back much further. The Dahlgren native earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree from RLC in 1992. He went on to receive a B.S. in Plant and Soil Science in 1994 and an M.S. in Agronomy in 1995, both from Southern Illinois University–Carbondale.

Wilkerson returned to RLC in 1995 as an adjunct instructor in agriculture and by 1997, he was promoted to full-time. His hands-on approach in the classroom and his dedication made him much more than a teacher. He became a mentor, a role model and a driving force behind the success of many students.

His leadership abilities shone through when Wilkerson transitioned into administration as the chair of the Applied Science and Technology Division in 2008. Just four years later, the Board of Trustees recognized his vision, tenacity and deep understanding of RLC’s mission by appointing him as the institution’s seventh, full-time president.

“The Rend Lake College Foundation is thrilled to welcome Terry Wilkerson to our Board of Directors,” said Amy Newell, RLCF Director. “He joins a dedicated team committed to advancing education, supporting students, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Foundation’s mission. Terry’s vision and leadership will be a tremendous asset to our organization.”

“I had the privilege of working closely with Terry for nine years during his presidency, and I’m excited to welcome him to the Foundation Board,” said Cathy DeJarnette, Executive Director of Administrative Services. “His deep commitment to the college and our community will be a tremendous asset as we continue our mission.”
