Auditions Announced for Alice in Wonderland at RLC

INA, Ill. (Aug. 25, 2023)—Auditions for Rend Lake College’s fall play, Alice in Wonderland, will take place in the RLC Theatre September 5, 2023 at 6 p.m.

The version of the play that will be performed was adapted by Anne Coulter Martens, based on the classic novel written by Lewis Carrol.

Those auditioning will be asked to fill out an audition form, have their photo taken, learn a few, very simple dance steps, and cold read various roles from selections in the play. There are 30 different roles and callbacks for specific roles will be held Tuesday, September 6th at 6 p.m.

Actors need to be 16 years or older for this production. Anyone younger wanting to audition will have to have special permission from their parents and receive a personal invite from the director prior to the audition date.

Those auditioning will be asked to read with a British dialect and possibly improvise during the auditions. This is a family-friendly production and will include non-human roles, such as the Cheshire Cat, the Gryphon, the Mock Turtle, Humpty Dumpty, Flowers, and Playing cards

Those selected for the roles will be asked to sign up for Theatre 1102 - Theatre Practicum, and receive credit for performing in the production. The course is worth 3 credits. Performers ages 16 -18 will have to have a parent/guardian sign for them. Tuition is waived for this course but tech fees are not. Tech fees are $40 per hour ($120 total).

Costumes will be provided for the actors at the time of the production.
