INA, Ill. (Dec. 12, 2023) – The Rend Lake College Foundation (RLCF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gregg Barnard to its Board of Directors. An alumnus of Rend Lake College (RLC), Barnard brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to keeping higher education accessible to area residents.
Barnard, who is married to Rhonda Barnard and father to three children - Kirk, Kristen, and Lezlee – studied Agricultural Business at RLC and went on to earn a degree in Agricultural Economics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Currently, he oversees Barnards Soil Service LLC, a fourth-generation family-owned ag service business based in Wayne City. As a successful business owner, Barnard said he plans to leverage his experience and network to grow communication between RLC and local high schools, with the aim of expanding scholarship opportunities for students.
"By presenting Foundation scholarship opportunities to students, we can make dreams affordable for all," he said.
As an RLC alumnus, Barnard said he appreciates the college's commitment to affordable higher education. "There are also excellent vocational opportunities for those that desire to start working sooner in a chosen field," he added.
In his new role on the RLCF Board, Barnard looks forward to supporting the RLC community , including the college, its students, and campus.
