INA, Ill. (July 24, 2025) — Rend Lake College is proud to announce that Board of Trustees member Ron Daniels has been appointed to serve as the Southeast Region Representative on the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) Leadership Team.
The ICCTA represents elected and appointed trustees from public community colleges throughout the state of Illinois. Daniels' appointment recognizes his commitment to students and higher education in Southern Illinois.
Daniels shares his enthusiasm for his new position and his dedication to community colleges at the state level, "It’s my privilege to represent Rend Lake College as the Southeast Regional Chair for the ICCTA. The ICCTA has an important role in promoting the success of students at the community level.”
Retired educator of 30 years, Daniels was elected to a six-year term as a member of the RLC Board of Trustees in April 2023. During his career, Daniels has served as the Regional Superintendent of Schools for Clinton, Jefferson, Marion and Washington counties, Mt. Vernon Township High School principal, and the principal and superintendent at Waltonville schools.
"I know education. I know leadership. I know the importance of community college to our area," Daniels said during his seating at the April 2023 RLC Board of Trustee regular meeting. "It gives opportunities to our kids and our families to really get a step up and get ahead. Whether it's from a certificate or on up to that associate degree, I think it really makes a difference. And with my background in education I know I can bring a lot of understanding of what's already going on and what needs to continue to be available to our kids."
The 2025-2026 ICCTA Leadership Team will begin its term at the start of the academic year and will work collaboratively to support Illinois’ 39 public community college districts that encompass 48 community colleges.
