Rend Lake College Awarded Over $273,000 in FY2024 Rev Up EV Community College Grant

INA, Ill. (Jan. 5, 2024) - Rend Lake College is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $273,898 in grant funding from the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) as a part of the FY2024 Rev Up EV Community College Grant Allocations. This grant program provides funding to support community colleges in the development or expansion of electric vehicle (EV) training programs.

"We are honored to receive this grant from the ICCB and excited to invest in the growth of our EV training program," said Kim Wilkerson, RLC’s Vice President of Career Technical Education and Student Support. "This funding will help our instructors prepare local students for growing job markets in the EV industry."

The Rev Up EV Community College Grant is an essential initiative which is set to help colleges transition to a more sustainable, eco-friendly future through the establishment of an extensive EV course and training program that provides students with a pathway for employment in the EV industry. The nearly $274,000 awarded to RLC will support the development of the program through the purchasing of necessary equipment on campus.
