The act that was signed into law revised the previous Child Bereavement Act which extended employee rights for all categories of bereavement leave. Rend Lake College previously offered 3 consecutive days without loss of salary for full-time employees. The revised policy still provides for 3 days without loss of salary and an option to use accrued vacation or personal days as a substitute for unpaid time off for the remaining leave for fulltime employees.
