RLC and Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners Provide Students Access to Latest Agronomy Technology at Demo Day

INA, Ill. (December 8, 2022) — Rend Lake College and Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners teamed up to provide students and community members with access to learn about the latest agronomy technology during a demonstration day at the RLC Agronomy Innovation Center on December 6. The event focused on innovations in agriculture, including auto-steer systems and other cutting-edge technology. This event provided students with hands-on learning with the latest equipment and techniques, helping to prepare them for careers in the rapidly-evolving field of agriculture.

"We're thrilled to be able to provide our students with this kind of access to the latest technology," said Dr. Gabriele Farner, Rend lake College's Dean of Applied Science and Technology. "It's one thing to talk about these innovations, but it's another to see them in action and get hands-on experience. We believe this partnership will be a great way to help our students stay at the forefront of the industry."

The event included presentations on new equipment, such as self-driving planters, new spray applicators, and harvesting innovations. These demonstrations gave visitors a glimpse into the future of farming and helped convey the potential of these technologies.

"Technology is rapidly changing," said Nicole Fleak, Director of Events and Promotions at Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners. "Today is an opportunity to discuss changes and inform participants of what goes on behind the scenes in farming." 

"Today's event focuses on the innovative side of technology in agriculture," said Ed Billingsley, Rend lake College Adjunct Agriculture professor. "Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners have brought out equipment that highlights how much ag is changing. These machines have precision planting, auto-steer, and more. There is technology in some of these machines we could have only dreamed of as kids, and here it is in front of our students and community members."

Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners representatives gave classroom  presentations on agriculture advances as part of Rend Lake College's Agriculture Demonstration Day. 


"Farming has opportunities that many do not know about," said Chad Dillenberger, Divisional Sales Director at Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners. "We are presenting some of those pieces today. For example, there is an operations center where farming starts. It is home to the analytics that drive decisions." 


Dillenberger described several ways agriculture machines use data to produce higher yields, "There are planters that can orient seeds in the best position for growth."

"The collaboration demonstrated between Rend Lake College and Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners at the RLC Agronomy Innovation Center represents one of great educational value," said Rend Lake College President Terry Wilkerson. "With their help, we can confidently introduce students to the future of agronomy. In return, students will learn how technology is shaping the ag industry and allow them to consider newly developing career opportunities. The future for the agriculture industry is here."  

The partnership between Rend Lake College and Sydenstricker Nobbe Partners will provide students with valuable hands-on experience with the latest agronomy technology, helping prepare them for successful careers in the field. Efforts like these are a great example of how partnerships between industry and education can help ensure students have the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly-changing world.
