REND LAKE COLLEGE OFFERS HELP IN TEACHING GIFTED CHILDREN

Exceptional children often need exceptional teachers, and Rend Lake College has opened a class to help ensure these youths receive the instruction they need.

According to Dr. Sharon Beasley, Allied Health Division Chair, "The Exceptional Child" is a three-credit-hour course offered one weekend per month. It meets from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays at the RLC Foundation Children’s Center on campus. The class begins January 23 and continues through May 8.

The course is approved in the Illinois Articulation Agreement and is frequently required of students pursuing an elementary education major.

"The Exceptional Child" will be taught by Brenda Heinzmann, Child Development Instructor.

Anyone interested in enrolling in the course or wanting more information may contact RLC’s Allied Health Department at (618) 437-5321, Ext. 1225.
