2024 CTE Camps Prepare Students for Success

INA, Ill. (July 16, 2024) — The summer Career and Technical Education (CTE) camps took place from June 17-20, 2024. Partially funded by a TRADES grant, these one-day camps were free and provided high school students with valuable experience within each CTE field of study. These camps included Computer Sciences & Drones, Manufacturing & Welding, Agriculture & Automotive, Culinary & Business, Health Care, and Truck Driver Training & Heavy Equipment.

During the CTE Agriculture & Auto camp, participants were able to investigate technology's role in modern farming and automotive industries, and tour the Agronomy Innovation Center, Auto Labs and Ag buildings.

The Culinary & Business camp allowed participants to engage in the "Bake It Big" Challenge, and to learn to develop, finance, market and sell baked goods.

During the Health Care camp, the students were able to explore various health care fields including EMS, Radiology, Nursing, Medical Coding, Phlebotomy and Medical Assisting

The Truck Driver Training & Heavy Equipment camp successfully explored the opportunities in truck driving and allowed the participants to experience being in the driver's seat of large equipment.

The Computer Science & Drones camp educated students to understand what a Man-in-the-Middle Attack is and learn the safe use of public Wi-Fi and VPNs. The participants were also able to fly professional-quality drones and capture 4K footage.

The students that attend the Welding & Manufacturing camp were able to explore electrical systems in everyday devices and discover how switches and circuits work. They were also able to safely participate in welding demonstrations.
