INA, Ill. (May 10, 2023) — Rend Lake College is excited to announce a new Truck Driver Training evening driving class starting the week of May 30 and running through July 13. The class is designed for individuals who cannot attend traditional daytime classes and prefer to receive their CDL training during the evening hours.
The program requires participants to have daytime availability during the first week of the class to meet Illinois DMV requirements for obtaining their permit. Following the first week, the evening class will run Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Rend Lake College's Ina Campus.
"We are thrilled to offer our students the opportunity to participate in this evening option for our Truck Driver Training class," said Dr. Gabriele Farner, Dean of Applied Science and Advanced Technology at RLC. "We know people have busy schedules. This is a nice, flexible option for those out there who are wanting to get their CDL license but don't have time during the day."
The new class will cover all aspects of truck driver training, including classroom instruction, hands-on training, and road driving. The curriculum meets all Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) requirements and prepares students to take the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) exam. RLC is an approved Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) provider for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
"Demand for qualified drivers has continued to grow and doesn't show signs of stopping," Farner added. "Our graduates come out skilled with employers waiting to hire them. If you are looking for training to be a safe and responsible commercial driver then this class is for you."
Spots are limited for the evening driving class. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to reserve their spot in the program.
