Meeting Highlights
Under New Business, the Board:
- Annual Review and Acceptance of College Mission Statement and Mission Document, effective July 9, 2024.
RATIONALE: Annual board review of our mission documents was adopted as part of the strategic planning process in order to keep the mission prevalent in the college’s regular operations and to meet the Higher Learning Commission’s accreditation requirements. - Approved Revisions to Rend Lake College Policy and Procedure 3.1410 – Disability, first reading, effective retroactively to June 18, 2024.
RATIONALE: These revisions to policy are needed due to recent regulations issued by the EEOC, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA). The PWFA applies only to accommodations and does not replace federal, state or local laws that are more protective of workers. - Approved Revisions to Rend Lake College Policy and Procedure 3.1400 – Family and Medical Leave Act, first reading, effective retroactively to June 18, 2024.

that are more protective of workers. - Approved Revisions to Rend Lake College Policy and Procedure 3.1016 – Terms of Working Remotely for Full-Time
Employees, first reading, effective July 1, 2024.
RATIONALE: These revisions to policy are needed to better meet the needs of the institution. - Ratified Purchase of Used Class 7 Box Truck, effective July 9, 2024.
RATIONALE: After researching the specs and pricing of available box trucks, the purchase of a used 2019 Freightliner M2 Model box truck was made from Truck Centers in Mt. Vernon for $85,740. Of this amount, $78,650 is from the Delta Regional Authority Grant funds and $7,090 as a grant match from Institutional funds. - Approved Permission to Bid and Award Radiologic Technology Lab Equipment, effective July 9, 2024.
RATIONALE: The current x-ray machine and lab components were purchased in 2007 and were somewhat dated then. Due to technology advancements and availability of grant funds, the time is appropriate for an upgrade to the radiologic equipment.
Under Personnel, the Board:
- Appointed Ms. Cheyenne McCoy as Nursing Instructor, pending a successful background check.
- Appointed Ms. Deanna Hamilton as Academic Advisor pending a successful background check.
- Appointed Ms. Maggie Ervin as Director of Workforce Development, pending a successful background check.
- Appointed Mr. Chris Moddelmog as Assistant Athletic Director, pending a successful background check.
- Permission to Advertise for and Ratify Appointment of Cosmetology Instructor.
Under Financial Information, the Board:
