English Instructors (Full-time)

Rend Lake College is seeking two dedicated and student-focused English Instructors to deliver high-quality instruction and support student success. This role involves teaching assigned courses, developing and updating curriculum, assessing student learning, and maintaining an engaging classroom environment. The instructor will also contribute to academic advising, student recruitment, and campus initiatives while staying current in the field. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching, committed to student achievement, and eager to collaborate within a dynamic academic community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Teach lecture and/or laboratory classes as assigned.
• Maintain syllabi, attendance records, contact hours, roster, grades and student evaluations.
• Prepare and submit documentation as requested.
• Select, order, prepare, and maintain necessary materials, supplies and equipment, which aid in the actual classroom instruction.
• Supervise and maintain related laboratories and laboratory equipment.
• Develop and update curriculum as needed.
• Hold office hours as assigned for the purpose of counseling with students concerning course work.
• Perform assessment of student learning and participate in college wide assessment program.
• Participate in professional development activities both on campus and off campus as requested.
• Keep abreast of current trends and information in subject area.
• Maintain any required program certifications
• Develop and teach competency-based Rhetoric and Composition courses
• Serve as a tutor/instructor in the College’s Writing Center
• Remain in compliance with accreditation board or governing agency as required by program
