About This Position

Rend Lake College seeks a full-time Retention & Career Services Specialist. This individual will administer career assessments; provide one-on-one career advising services; coordinate and conduct workshops, presentations and fairs related to understanding career development, selecting a major and making career decisions; represent Rend Lake College at community events; conduct campus visits; assist with the development, implementation, tracking and evaluation of student success efforts; track success indicators of cohorts of entering majors; continually measure progress of individual students; communicate and work closely with faculty members to identify academic issues and develop early intervention strategies; collect data and formulate reports reflecting student success activities; assist local industry with labor market needs and students with job placement by posting job opportunities and making connections; assist transfer students with college applications and college searches; conduct resume and cover letter workshops, mock interviews, and job search; work with academic advisors for students on probation; develop and monitor STARS workshops; refer students to other services as needed or requested; serve as a member of the RL-Cares team. // Full-time, 50-week, nontenure-track position.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or related field from an accredited institution required, Master's Degree preferred.
  • All candidates will be required to successfully pass a background screening process.
Salary & Benefits
  • $37,000 - $40,000 annually or commensurate with experience
  • Full benefits including medical, dental and vision; life insurance; retirement and paid-time off
  • Free tuition for employee, spouse and dependents.
