About This Position

  

 Rend Lake College seeks a full-time STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES/TRIO PROGRAM ADVISOR to develop and implement academic and career advising activities, provide academic advising to SSS participants, provide referrals to outside agencies as needed, record and update academic and career objectives in individual files, maintain records in the SSS / RLC database, plan and implement workshops and cultural activities for SSS participants and other duties as assigned. Coordinate campus visits to 4-year institutions and cultural enrichment activities.  Travel during evenings and weekends expected.// Full-time nontenure-track grant-funded position.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree in social services, counseling, education or related field from an accredited institution required. 
•    Demonstrated sensitivity to needs of educationally and economically disadvantaged students.
•    At least one year's experience in academic advising and prior career counseling experience.
•    At least one year's experience working in higher ed., preferably a community college.
•    At least one year's TRIO experience and background similar to participants preferred.
•    All candidates will be required to successfully pass a background screening process.
Salary & Benefits

•    $35,000-$37,000 annually or commensurate with experience.
