INA, Ill. - The Rend Lake College Foundation Children's Center will host its 3rd Annual Big Truck Day from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 13 outside the Children's Center on the Ina campus. This event will include various big vehicles, games, prizes, and more for children of all ages to enjoy. Admission is free and open to everyone.
“The children love playing outdoors and doing anything that is hands-on”, said RLCFCC Director Brooke Pulke. “Our last two Big Truck Days were big hits! It’s so much fun to watch the children explore the massive equipment. They get to climb in and pretend they are driving.”
Parents can take the opportunity to visit the center and meet staff while enjoying some free fun for the whole family. The center will also be accepting pre-registration for the spring during Big Truck Day. Child care is available to children of students, staff, and the community starting at the ages of 6 weeks old. Students may use educational grants to pay for childcare and qualifying parents can save up to half off the center’s Pre-K rate.
Kassi Williams, a student at Rend Lake College whose children attend the center, said, “I love the convenient location on campus, and my girls love the teachers and staff.”
The RLCF Children’s Center has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children for more than a decade. NAEYC accreditation is a widely-recognized sign of high quality in early childhood education programs. The RLCFCC was named a Quality Counts QRS Star Level 3 provider by the Illinois Department of Human Services. IDHS noted areas of particular excellence at the center, including space and furnishings, personal care routines, activities and interaction, language and reasoning, and structure toward children with disabilities.
